Tijuana bibles were pornographic comic books produced in the United States from the 1920s to the early 1960s. They were most popular during the depression.
The standard format was 8 cheaply printed 4 by 6 inches pages, often showing movie stars and popular cartoon characters in sexual positions. The writers and artists were usually anonymous.The origin of the term Tijuana bible is not known. Tijuana bibles have some similarities with underground comics.
