His dense, graffiti like panels are peopled with pirates, dykes and demons. His most famous creations are the checkered demon, Ruby the Dyke and Starry Eyed Stella - a trio conceived as a kind of underground slant to Krazy Kat in which Stella is Ignatz the mouse. Other characters include the attractively named Captain Pissgums. 

You cannot excuse an S Clay Wilson strip on grounds of moral worth or satire. You cannot even say that they are works of art - they aren't. The strips just are and you either love them or you hate them, you find them funny or offensive or you don't.
