Rick Griffin, like Moscoso, gained a reputation by designing rock posters in the sixties. A keen surfer, he had also done cartoons for surfing magazines but he is now more famously known for his Zap work. In contrast to some of the other underground artists Griffin became a Christian, which influenced his work.
Photographs show Griffin to be a bit of a pretty boy until a motorcycle accident nearly ripped his eye out. Griffin died in another traffic accident in the nineties. Pretty boy, no road sense. This page has been accessed |
