Patty Powers and Fiona Smyth

This is a sample from a phenomenon that followed in the wake of the underground comics of the sixties and seventies - the independent. This is one example entitled "Fluffy the Dog" by Patty Powers and Fiona Smyth. It appeared in the magazine "Ben is Dead".

Fluffy the dog concerns the activities of a promiscuous angst ridden heroine who has guilty feelings about her abnormal love for her dog. Actually she seems to view her desire for her dog more as bored experimentation than love.

The style is crude but has a pleasantly decorative feel, rather like a piece of embroidery. The Underground comics were often criticized for their male orientated sexism so here is a piece of female orientated sexism.
